Channel Fees

Channel fees are what an online travel agency takes from each booking — typically a host commission, sometimes plus a guest-facing service fee. They are the cost of the demand and visibility a platform provides.

Because the fees recur on every reservation, they are a major reason operators cultivate direct bookings: a stay booked directly keeps the commission and the guest relationship. Most run a mix, using OTAs to fill the calendar while steering repeat guests direct.
