Short-Term Rental (STR)
A short-term rental (STR) is a furnished home, apartment, or room rented to guests for brief stays, usually fewer than 30 consecutive nights. STRs are most often booked through online travel agencies such as Airbnb and VRBO, though many operators also take direct bookings.
Unlike long-term leases, short-term rentals turn over frequently. That means each booking carries its own cycle of guest communication, check-in, cleaning, and review — the operational work that defines the business.
Operators range from a single host renting one spare room to professional managers running dozens of listings across multiple platforms.
